5 visualizations to inspire you [Nov 21]
We all know that 3D pies are not a very good way to express your story. I guess this one is an exception we all are happy to make [via PTS Blog]
This interactive visualization shows how to solve problems in a methodical way. It has great graphics and explains complex models used in problem solving in an interesting way.
Ok, this is the kind of graph that makes you go “wtf?… Really”. Some one with few dollars and a sense of humor built a site just to show how many search results are there for each of the variations of the phrase “oh sh*t”. The fun part is they created the logo of the site from the number of search results each “i” has. (although first few seem to be kind of normalized..)
Maps always fascinate me. Their ability to connect one information to another to weave a story is just great. This one showcased above outlines the city boundaries based on the wikipedia articles (I guess it uses the geo-tagging of the articles done by authors to find the best possible rectangle to highlight)
This is another creative map application using which you can see 360° panoramas of the world cities. Just click on a point in the map (they don’t have panoramas for all cities yet) and go browsing. In a way it is similar to Microsoft’s Photosynth, but uses map interface and limited to user uploaded panoramas. [via Tech Crunch]
