Files are corrupt when Excel 2010 opens.

  3. GMF says:

Chandoo, thanks as always for inspirational work. I intend to adapt this to some of my project spreadsheets. One question, and I apologize if the answer is something incredibly basic that I should know.

On the named ranges, DateofFirst shows for August (row 13) as =DATE(YEAR(Mini!$B$5),MONTH(Mini!$B13),1). If I place the cursor in July it then shows as =DATE(YEAR(Mini!$B$5),MONTH(Mini!$B12),1) in the Name Manager window. How did you enter the formula such that it shows a different value based on the current location of the cursor without the named formula itself having a value to identify the active cell?

  4. GMF says:

Ahhh. I get to learn yet something else new having never used a relative reference! I see from playing with it that it depends where the cursor is when you set up the relative reference, rather than the cell you enter, that determines the subsequent offset. So if my cursor is in row 19, and I enter B2 as my starting point in the formula, when I'm in row 20 the named range returns B3!

Maybe this is a topic for a future Chandoo column... I'm curious why using the relative reference rather than the same existing date in column B is appropriate... In other words, B12 already contains 42186. I don't know how Excel stores the relative references for DateofFirst. Are there 1+ million values representing each row, or does the reference only exist for the 12 rows that point to it?

Unfortunately, the calendar doesn't work when opened. Just a bunch of hash tags and zeroes are displayed. Is there any way to upload a screenshot (.jpg) here, so you'll know what I mean?

  6. Shadeva Reddy says:

    Hello Sir,

Thank you very much for this calender, its very nice and innovative one.
It would have been more useful if we can have a column in the Sheet Full which would reflect the entries for that day when I select a particular date. This would be the summary of the entries that I entered in Notes in the sheet "Daily".This would make the sheet more User friendly.

This is just a suggestion which I would feel would work, apologies if this was already worked but left out as this might not work.

    Regards,
    Sahadeva Reddy

I usually don't get gifts - thanks for such an educational and very useful tool - a Happy and Prosperous 2015 to all Excel-Thrill seekers out there.

I wonder if it is polite to ask so early into 2015 for an advice on how to subtract one cell content from another, both containing TIMES in this format HH:MM:SS with the results shown as duration in this way HH:MM:SS - without converting into any other values or formats.

    Hi Chandoo,

Thanks a lot for the Calendar, it is really awesome. I just noticed that if the year 2015 is changed to 2016 or 2017 it still works fine so I think this can be used in the coming years as well.

    Thanks again and God Bless.

2015 Calendar. File does not open, says either extension is not valid or file is corrupt, is there something I'm doing wrong as it appears others have opened it?

  14. Mahir says:

    Hi Chandoo,

I am using your Calendar template already on a daily basis.

    I've added an array formula to the "Notes" column: ={IFERROR(INDEX(DAY(Daily!$C$5:$C$369)&"."&MONTH(Daily!$C$5:$C$369)&"|"&Daily!$E5$:$E$369,SMALL(IF((Daily!$D$5:$D$369="Important")*MONTH(Daily!$C$5:$C$369=MONTH(TODAY())),ROW(Daily!$E$5:$E$369)-ROW(Daily!$E$5)+1),ROWS($AA$5:AA5))),"")}

With this Formula I get all "important" Notes for the actual month.

Now I tried to use CF to Highlight the actual date. The actual date should have a red border, so that I know with one view, which date we have. Furthermore I thought the days that we left behind could be in a duller shade with some background styles applied.

I failed very bad, so that I can not share anything. I even tried to use the DATE() Function in Combination with the TODAY() Function, but somehow it did not work.

Are my CF Ideas possible? and if so, could you show me some hints and tricks to achieve the result described above.

  15. AZSundog says:

File is corrupted won't open. I downloaded the one for 2013 as I am running Office 2013. I have enabled all macros in the developer tab.

  16. paulod says:

This calendar all works perfectly and I have adapted it to suit my needs and I even added a column to give 10 days notice of impending meetings from which I've made another calendar.
If there is solution to my problem of using this spreadsheet to automatically put the meeting dates and impending dates into an Outlook 365 calendar (and update any changes) I'd be grateful and keen to know.

  17. Yasir says:

Fantastic work and Good that you are spreading the knowledge. Keep it Up.
