Google Spreadsheets Holiday Art Template

google-spreadsheets-holiday-art-template

This is pure fun! Few Googlers used the collaborative feature in Google Spreadsheets to create a holiday art template with snow flakes using 18 colors. Each of them added few colors on a blue canvas to create this massive template. The best part is they even made a time lapse video of the whole process (and of course uploaded to youtube) to show you how its done. See it below:

  1. Hi Chandoo,

Let me first thank you for your excellent posts on topics related to Excel and Data Visualizations.

I would be happy if we can produce a heat map in Excel as shown in the link below :

    http://www.moneycontrol.com/mcplus/marketmap/nse/marketmap.php
This map (known as market map) shows sectorial performance of the stock market on mouse hover.

I saw your earlier posts on HEAT MAPS; What I want to see is the blocks need to grow in size based on the value apart from the variation in color intensity.

THANKS ONCE AGAIN FOR YOUR EXCELLENT BLOG

  2. Hi ra Poorna!
Just wanted to drop in to say that you are doing an awesome job ra.! I really like most of your tips, the best one for me has been the market share presentation post!! Keep rocking!
    Meher.

  3. @Srinivas: thank you so much for dropping by and asking this question. But I don’t know if there is a simple way to generate a map like the one shown in moneycontrol without resorting to vba or lot of clever formulas coupled with conditional formatting.

I have never tried this type of graphs on excel, but Robert seems to have done so as he points to an excel add-in that could do this.

Let me try this on Monday (no promises as I have a rather hectic day :D) and see if it meets your needs.

Btw, you can create treemap visualization for free using your excel tabular data by uploading it to many eyes, see this:

@Robert: Thanks alot for sharing this link with us. It goes in to my bookmarks for future reference 🙂

@Kalyan: You are welcome ra, I am so happy to read this words in the morning 🙂
