Time for sharing another round of excel related articles around the web.

List of all data visualization and analysis excel add-ins, The list includes some of the really useful add-ins. Handy bookmark if you work with data visualization alot and need to know where to find good stuff to add to your excel capabilities.

Designing a chart when you have lots of data, This is a common problem we all face. Often we have lots of data (in this case household income distribution data from 1967 to 2005) and we try to come up with *ONE* chart to show all of it along with our insights. This works in some rare cases, most of the time resulting in chart mess. Xlcubed has done some analysis of a simple problem and tries to propose an alternative.

Excel Chart Adviser by Microsoft Excel chart adviser is a free add-in to excel. Once added it would show up as button on your ribbon / toolbar UI and suggest charting alternatives for your data. Read what Scott Ruble, a program manager on the MS Excel team has to say about this.

Simple Check List with Excel – I used to maintain a spreadsheet with things to do during my MBA days. Especially when things are crazy bad I used have 10-20 undone items. These days I just don’t do that much (or am I doing stuff really fast ?) But you might find Andrew’s simple checklist using excel very useful.

That is all. Welcome to a brand new week of excel excitement. If you want to find more interesting excel links, browse our shared excel links archives. 🙂

Thanks for the link Chandoo! There are some good links in this post.

One that sounds familiar is the Microsoft Chart Advisor. If you take a look at Juice's website (chart cleaner in my post) they have a web-based application called Chart Chooser that helps users determine which chart is best for their data set. They are very similar and can be a good guide for the novice data vis person.

    Thanks again!
    Tony
