Google Maps Walking Directions Bug ?!?

Posted on September 26th, 2008 in technology , wonder why - 2 comments

google-maps-walking-directions-bug-1I love google maps. No, wait, I really love google maps. I think it is a perfect example of passion, intelligence and wit coming together to create software. [trivia link: google maps tells you swim across the ocean], I have been using maps to find transit directions from my hotel to office and I have noticed something wierd.

The walking directions are sometimes illogical. See aside.

From the place where I get off the bus, I need to walk to point B and the maps tells me to walk all the way to some place and return to point B. One reason could be they are using one-way driving instructions on the roads to create walking directions. Click here to see the directions on maps (may not be same since all busses dont stop at same place)
