Can a manual work which i do regularly be automated using excel macros or plugin type thing?

Dear Vletm,

I have abandoned since its not doing the back-filling correctly. Really don't know friend what is the problem.

Hope i will continue this work manually. Thanks for all your help.

Regards,

Sonjoe Joseph

Attaching the sample file which i did manually which backfilled well in Amibroker. I have just taken a small piece of data just to show u. I have a small plugin which will backfill it in Amibroker. Once u selected the NI.csv file once the process is done it will automatically create a NI.txt file that file too i'm attaching ok

Dear Vletm,

This is getting better friend tried to backfill the data but only half of the job was done. When i analysed the two files ie the file downloaded from my trading terminal "NIFTY19JANFUT.csv" and once the process is done a file is created named "NTY19JANFUT.csv" some dates formats are wrong which are marked in red. I'm not able to attach the files since these files are more than 1 mb so can't attach here. So a screen shot is attached were the errors are marked in red in the "NTY19JANFUT.csv" and compare with the correct date formats which are marked in green in"NIFTY19JANFUT.csv". If u give me the email id i can send those two files so that u can get a clear picture of the date formats and better for your analysis.

Do another correction like don't create a txt file named "NTY19JANFUT.txt" without that its doing the backfilling with the "NTY19JANFUT.csv".

Hope with all the changes amended i thing next time it will backfill the whole data without much hazzle.

Thanking You,

Awaiting your new file with the changes.

Regards,

Sonjoe Joseph.

Why You open those files with Excel?
As I've written, open with any Text-editor.
If You use Excel then check/modify Your settings
that it uses/have same as dateformat as in .csv or .txt -files
while You open those with Text-editor.
That part I cannot do!

This creates "NTY19JANFUT.csv" and after that "NTY19JANFUT.txt".
What is Your point?
Do You need both files?

I didn't understand what u said above. I opened the "NTY19JANFUT.csv" that too showing the same error screen shot attached. I don't need the "NTY19JANFUT.txt" file. Didn't understand the settings part ya

Sonjoe Joseph

1) csv-files data has saved as dd/mm/yyyy -- okay?
If You open it with Excel -- okay?
that date would show as Your language settings wants -- okay?
It seems that Your Excel would show files dates as mm/dd/yyyy - okay?
dd as day / mm as month / yyyy as year
mm as month /dd as day / yyyy as year

If I change code again that it would save date as dd-mmm-yyyy -- okay?
then even Your Excel would understand that middle 'mmm'-part means month.
>> Why You need to open those files with Excel? <<

2) Why did You sent that .txt-file at all, if You don't need that?
That file has those dates saved as dd-mmm-yyyy.

Dear Vletm,

The problem is still there don't know what to do.....Can i get ur email id so that i can send those two files. The date format is getting changed .....Please send ur mail id.....so u can do a a better analysis and solve the issue.

Regards,

Sonjoe

How many times I have to copy & paste next line?
ReRead #45 ...
after that continue from #58
and answer at least to that BLUE question!

You have already sent file which has worked - - or have You?
I have asked those in #2 Reply ...
I don't need > 1Mb file. It won't help anything!

New questions:
Do You use .csv-file with other program?
Do You use .csv-file with Excel?
(If use then modify that column's format as You would like to see!)

I was just comparing the 2 files. Once the process is done the "NTY19JANFUT.csv" date formats are wrong in some part and in some other part its correct. The date format in the master file ie "NIFTY19JANFUT.csv" is dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm

Since the date part in the "NTY19JANFUT.csv" is not fully correct when i do the backfilling the data is not fully organized & its scattered. For the correct formatted data of the date ie dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm this data is not getting backfilled.

What is the text editor ur talking about i didnt understand is it notepad.
I use csv file with a plugin ie a program which helps me to backfill the data in Amibroker. In the manual process also once its saved as csv i use this plugin software to backfill data in Amibroker.
I don't use csv files with excel.

Regards,

Sonjoe Joseph.

Notepad is great Text-editor --- use it
--- and ONLY it then You'll compare something!

Why You show me screenshot from Excel?
... if You don't use Excel!

I changed to my the newest version those dateformats to dd-mmm-yyyy
because You seems to look those with Excel!
... and You always wrote wrong wrong wrong
--- it is wrong, if You use those .csv-files (as You have used)
with Excel with 'Your language settings'!
( There are mess because month and date has 'understood' incorrect. )

As well as I did those .txt-files which has other dateformat ...
and the result was as Your sent .txt-file.

Just see the screenshot which i opened in text editor ie Notepad see the dates which are marked in yellow which are wrong. This are just one set of data there are many were the dates are like this which are wrong.

Great - Notepad-file!
1) Where did You get that file?
2) Did You use my the newest version?
3) It won't do .txt-file!
4) You just wrote that You don't need/use .txt-files .. hmm?
5) You wrote that You use only .csv-files.

I think i need to stop this thread here since its so lengthy and all members will think i'm a mad guy. Shall i think of posting a new thread in the macros section and there also do respond with some fresh mind :)

Regards,

Sonjoe

That is from ur newsest version check #59

You only told me to open with a text editor so i opened with Notepad. I just clicked on the "NTY19JANFUT.csv" clicked the right mouse button and then Open with -> Notepad. That is how i opened and took a screenshot and send it to you ok

>> that's possible ... because that files code <<
Back to previous version ...
Test this ...
It should give row as You'll see in sheet.
If not then
do new (cut from original) raw file which has correct and incorrect ~50 rows
and
upload here.

Well same error Its a lengthy file and ur just seeing one part of the data which i gave u ok. This file is having 20000 plus records in some the date format is wrong. If i try to backfill this data again the data well be clustered.

I'm creating a new thread on this same topic in the macros section.

Thanks & Regards,

Sonjoe.

How can a person understand ReRead #45

What do u mean by cut from original tell me the process how to do it. You are telling me to cut the wrong formatted data and make a new file in the name "NIFTY19JANFUT.csv".

Just see the files with your new version

I have only included some part of the wrong ones. just compare the master file "NIFTY19JANFUT.csv" with the "NTY19JANFUT.csv". You will see the date format errors in the "NTY19JANFUT.csv" file. Have a look
