Vertical line chart

David J Collis and Michael G Rukstad's article "Can you say what your strategy is?" they had this cool vertical line chart (see attachment). Each company is ranked on certain criteria and then it is charted vertically. I tried for a while to replicate it in Excel, however, I could not find a way to make it vertical. Horizontal is okay, I am just curious if anyone else can replicate this. Thanks.

Hui,

Many thanks for the scatter chart produced. This looks great. Can you please explain for all of us in steps to produce this. Though I do not have a requirement to produce such charts at work, but very keen in understanding how to do this.

Hi!
Unless the author has another secret you'd have to get these elements:
- a basket
- a pungi
- three snakes
... and dominate the techniques of the art of snake charming.
:)
Regards!

PS: And if you plan to deploy that at more than one site don't forget the long bamboo stick.

SirJB7,

Just figured out how to get these snakes out of the baskets after asking Hui to explain it. These scatters always look like Anacondas until you open the basket and realise you can make them dance to your Pungi. :D

Hi!
I don't know what tricks the author hides under his sleeve, but if I were you -and regarding my experience with serpents (no, bosses, wife and ex-s don't count, otherwise I should be Hamelin flautist's master)- I'd hire a bodyguard with blowgun and tranquilizer darts... just in case.
For you, of course, or have the poor animals done something that deserves that? For a slight sedation to prevent stress peaks.
Regards!

It is a simple scatter chart
That uses a Notional 5,15,25,...,95 series for the Y axis values
X axis values as per data

Select the chart and it will show you the Data Series
It has the X & Y axis set to color white, so you can't see the values
Not many other secrets in that chart
