This is regarding the Update Link waring while opening an saved excel file

While opening the file if there is reference link in the excel file then while opening the exccel file MS EXCEL pops up a message asking for "Udate Link" "Dont Update Link"

Handiling this pop-up is simple. Below link explains the same

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925893

Here the query is how to TRACE THE LOCATION OF THE LINK

From which cell the link is present or which is asking for the reference link

Is it possible to locate the cell reference

I have tried with find option with [ , www , http, etc but unable to find the link that needs to be adressed

Please advise a solution

Query is to find the root of the link that is required to be updated while opening the excel file

thanks

Finding links is one of the more esoteric things that you may ever have to do, because they can be hidden everywhere including in :

Formula,

Named Formula,

Chart Series,

Object Links,

DB Connections

to name a few

When I get really stuck I use one of the Functions of J-Walks PUP Ezxcel Addin which shows all links in a file

It is available as a free (Time limited) download here: http://spreadsheetpage.com/index.php/pupv7/home

Hi,

One of way is here.

In Excel 2007.

1.Open file

2.Popup appear "Security-Link"

3.Do ---> "Enable Content".

4.Popup appear "Edit Links"

5.Here you can see the Sheet names where external Links are available.

6.Further you can check the external link on particular that sheet and change it.

Is there any other way let me know.

Isti

Thanks Hui

Thanks Istiyak

Both tips are helpful

Microsoft has to do more on this in future versions to have in-built search!!!

thanks

Istiyak,

Excel is not pointing out the sheet which is having the reference link

Instead it is showing the required name of the external worksheet file which needs to be linked in this file

So it is not possible to locate in the present file that where the actual link which is seeking external reference ?

thanks
