Strange behaviour with scrollbar control

Jonathan

New Member
I am using Excel 2007 and I have a spreadsheet with two scrollbars (not ActiveX). Both of them exhibit the strange behaviour that, if one clicks the arrows at the end or in the bar outside the scroll block, the scrollbar will run all the way to one end, not moving by just the correct increment defined.

Has anyone seen this before? Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Jonathan

Welcome to the Chandoo.org Forums

That is odd behaviour?

A Few questions

1. Is there any VBA code which may be linked to the scroll bars?

2. Are they linked to each other via their Cell Links in some strange circular reference way like a feedback loop?

3. Any chance you can post the file or email to me, Link is at bottom of the page when you click on Excel Ninja to the left

Hi Hui,

Thanks for jumping in here.

1. There is no VBA code in this spreadsheet as we are not allowed to use it - our files are available for people whose companies are very security conscious.

2. They are not linked to each other. Each is linked to a single cell which is then used in a formula.

3. I will try to send the file to you. Thanks

Cheers

You have a number of Named Ranges with

Links to other Workbooks as well as a number with Errors in them like #REF!

Look in:

Amort_Capital

Beta_U_Hamada

Cd_anual

Ce_anual

Coinversor

InvAFVR

I would try and fix the following Named Ranges, I wouldn't be surorised if that fixes it, but no guarantees

Please keep us informed

Well spotted. I have deleted all of them since they don't seem to be used anywhere. However it has not resolved the issue. :(

Thanks

Hui, you have given me an idea. I have been deleting things to find the source of the problem and I think I have it.

The spreadsheet includes three Data Tables (I think that is what it is called; I am using Excel in Spanish), generated off the two variable being changed by the scrollbars. That is as much as I have discovered so far.

Yep, it's that guy. I can solve it by setting calculations mode to "Automatic except Data Tables", but that is, of course, not optimal.

It seems as if when the calculations are slow to update the scrollbar keeps moving.

Frustrating. Solutions still welcome. This is not a huge sheet we are talking about here.
