Stagger Cells in Excel Spreadsheet

Hi all,

Is there a way to stagger cells in an excel spreadsheet? I'm looking at a bunch of differences and a staggered setup would make it much easier on the eyes. This is an example of what I want it to look like:

12

13

21

16

with a cell between 12 and 13, 13 and 21, 21 and 16, etc..

I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks :D

I'm not sure exactly what you're after, ang. Do you want to insert rows between each currently filled cell? OR do you just want it easier to read each line, in which case maybe you could simply make this into an Excel table that has banded rows.

It would help if you posted a link to a spreadsheet showing exactly what you are after.

Good day ang.ru

Try this

1. Sort your data by Column A

2. Insert two columns to the left of Column A so that the list now appears in Column C

3. In cell A1 enter =ROW()

4. In cell B1 enter =IF(C1=C2,"",A1+0.5)

5. Copy the formulas in cells A1 and B1 down to the last row in your range

6. Convert Columns A & B to values

7. Cut the values in Column B to immediately beneath the last row in column A

8. Delete Column B

9. Highlight the entire dataset and sort by Column A

10. Delete Column A

shrivallabha has posted a macro that lets you choose how many rows to insert ; have a look at this post

You can place data in any cells you desire

eg 12 in A1, 13 in A5, 21 in A7 and 16 in A8

You can adjust Row heights and Widths as required

You can Adjust placement of numbers in cells ie: Left, Right, Center or other alignment

If the above doesn't help you may wish to try and give a better example of what you require.

Hi ,

In case you wish to insert a blank row between data , check the suggestion made by Debraj Roy here :

Happy that you have solved your problem, but it would be nice if you could tell us what the actual problem and solution was so that others may use a similar solution if required in the future.

Hui,

My problem was inserting a row to the right and between each currently filled cell, hence the "staggering". I simply used bobhc's trick, the 3rd post.
