RDB Merge

Hiya....


Just joined in... this is my first post :)


I want to know if RDBMerge is something that I need to do every time I want to see the dashboard or the once created file after RDBMerge will update itself as soon as the changes are done to the linked files from which I am picking the summary page?


Any help will be appreciated.

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org Forums


The answer will depend on how the connection to your DB has been setup

One of the properties of the connections is the refresh period, which my be set to eg: 1 minute or 1 Hr or maybe to never


Goto the Data Tab, select your connection and select Properties, the refresh time is in there somewhere
 
Hi Hui,


When I click the connection, a box opens but it is completely empty. I have nothing in it!!!


Also what I have noticed is the RDBMerge tab disappears after I save that workbook. So in order to check the new updates I have to open a new excel file from my desktop> ms office> excel. It is also not visible when I simply click the new file option on an existing open excel file :(


Does that have to do anything with my files being on a common domain server (accessible to all staff) & not on my personal Drive?
