Question on formula for multiple columns

I have 3 columns in excel in the following format.


A B C D

123 1 ABC

456 0 XYZ

789 2 ASD

123 0 SDS

456 2 DDF

789 1 SSS


I would like to write a formula to get the data in column D based on values in column B. If Col B = 2 then D should have the cell value from C else it should get a value from cell in column A . I tried vlookup and if but somehow getting stuck. If anyone can help me out on this would really appreciate your help on this.

In D2: =if(B2=2,C2,A2)

I did the exact same thing and couldn't get it to work. But eventually realized my fault and corrected it. Thanks though for replying.
