PivotTable refresh issue

Hi there-

I currently have a data sheet that is supporting a pivot table. I am having an issue with the refresh portion of it. I've changed some data on the table, and, then gone ahead and refreshed the data, but, the changes are not reflected. Yet, if I create a NEW pivot table with the exact same data source, the updates are reflected.


Is this typical?

When you say make changes:

Did you add or delete any Columns ?

Did you change any Field Names or Columns Titles ?

Did you add text to a numeric field or vise versa ?
 
Double check the PivotTable source data reference, make sure it's still correct?

What was the old value, and what is the new value that you changed it to?
 
make sure your pivot table covers the area of the data. If the changed (existing) cell data wasn't part of the query, then refresh won't do you any good. Hope this help.
 
Hi friends, I'm having a similar problem. I built numerous pivot tables off the same data table, made some changes to the data, and now it is not refreshing correctly.


I added a column. I cut and pasted some data from and older, adjacent column, into this column, but only for certain records in the data table. Now it appears the Pivot Tables are following those cut&pastes, instead of reading the data from the columns as it stands.


To further complicate things, I'm using Excel 2008 for Mac. Thus many Pivot Table commands and operations are tweaked (in different places) compared to Excel for PC.


Must I re-do the pivot tables?

I have tried to refresh the data but not succeed . i have a data sheet containing field date , company name amount . using pivot table function a new sheet create shows name of companies in row and month and amount in column like


company 1 company 2

Jan 1000 5000

Feb 1500 500

how can i refresh data if i update the main sheet .above working u mentioned double click not working or may be i am not using it properly
 
This happens. It seem to be easiest just to delete the sheet it's on and try a new one.
