Is it possible to create a reference to a cell in a workbook saved on SkyDrive without the workbook being opened? If so, how?

I don't use Skydrive but I believe that it works in a similar manner to Dropbox

Dropbox creates a local folder which is automatically synced with the remote folder

The easiest way is to just try what you want to do

Thanks for your reply Hui,

I am struggling a bit with this one. I have searched for an answer but I can't find one.

So, I changed tack a bit and tried to just open a cloud file with VBA. Still no success. I can't believe nobody has asked about VBA code to open a cloud file (SkyDrive, Dropbox etc) from a url link before!

If I use the url as the workbook address then it opens a empty workbook titled 'redir'.

Has anyone managed to open a cloud file (not locally stored) with VBA? Please tell me you have!
