Insert text with cell click

I have columns that i use for checking off if a project is completed. I insert "x" in those cells and other formulas are activated. I am hoping for an easy way to simply have the "x" entered by just clicking the cell and a second click to erase the "x". I would like for this to have a constant back and forth exchange between "x" and Blank upon each click. I'm sure this will require VBA.

Thanks

Have a browse of this

It will do what you want

This look great. I have a questions though. I am trying to educate myself on VBA basics but have little time to do so. If i needed this to work only in cell A5 or in the range A5:A10

what would I need to do?

Thanks

Hi, beroth!

The article posted explains how to use conditional formatting to simulate check marks. It has a link for downloading a sample file:

http://www.excelhero.com/blog/workbooks/excelhero_check.xls

Download and open it, select range B6:B12, go to Start tab, Styles group, Conditional Format icon, select Admin Rules (last option), Edit Rule... and there you'll see how it's set and how it works.

The area it applies to is based on a Tables which are special Named Ranges

So simply change the area that the Named Range refers to

To do that simply select the BucketList named range

Right Click, Table, Convert to Range

Now select the new area

Insert, Table,

Then on the tableTools, Design Tab

Change the name to BucketList
