How to display before and after sales results?

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to display sales results before and after a certain point in time. So say John took over an account on 4/2012. What would be the best way to see how the account performed before and after 4/2012, when John took over the account? Did sales increase, decrease? I'm having trouble visualizing how to display this type of data comparison.

I would use a Scatter or Line Chart
Then add a dummy series for the two periods
and add a Line of Best Fit for the two periods

Posting some sample data will enable us to better assist
