How to auto populate a day on entering the date

Hi,


Newbie here having the discovered the site today. Brilliant site and thus have registered and added to favourites and told colleagues about it.


The query that made me find the site is: I have a large row of dates in Column C. In column B I want excel to autopopulate the day of the week that the dates in Column C fall on.


I imagine it's simple for all the experts. Thanks in advance.

=TEXT(C1,"ddd")

for short week day

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org Forums


or better still is simply

=C1

then apply a Custom Format (Ctrl 1, Number) of dddd or ddd


This allows you to use either column as Dates
