Histogram Like Line in charts [SOLVED]

Hi,


I am trying to understand if it is possible to get in excel 2010 a graph that looks like the one in the picture attached. I mean the red line which changes and acts like a histogram, altough it is not a histogram. With each new value the line "jumps" up/down to the next one which it maintains until the new value. The image file was not made in excel so I can't upload an excel file.

OK so far I have a scatter plot with lines connecting, but I can't get the lines that connect the dots to do that effect so far.


Any ideas on how to do it?

OK I made up a file just for the example itself as the original one contains confidential data.


Column A is Y Axis and column B is X Axis. X Axis is supposed to be the red line in the Picture I uploaded before, the line that I actually need to be formated.

So I guess the trick to it was using this OFFSET function?

There are a number of ways to achieve the extra points, but offset is easy and very transparent in terms of explaining it to someone

The neat part is using the Mod() function to determine if it is the offset row or the next
 
Very interesting solution Hui.. Loved how using OFFSET you are able to generate all the numbers.

I use offset all the time in teaching Excel

It is clear and transparent in it's usage as opposed to Index which I use in production systems


Any function will become troublesome when you copy it to a 200,000 row x 200 column range

No function will stress even the weakest PC when only used/copied 30 times
