hi

i have a problem in format the legend of chart

i have the legend formed of two words first one is normal but second one is italic (name of bacteria and its code)

ok

i try to change it in table but in the chart it appears only in one format

try to change in format legend no and in source no chance

please someone familiar with that problem i urgent need it

I don't think you can't do that in the legend, as it treats the entire name as a single block.

Alternative: Instead of having a legend (which, generally try to avoid as is causes reader to shift their view multiple times) a data label on one point of your series (beginning or end?). Then, you can select the data point label and format the individual words as desired.

thanks for replay but

you say

Then, you can select the data point label and format the individual words as desired.

PLEASE ,more details please

(i use the lines in chart which have different shapes so i nead the legend to relate each shape with its bacteria )

I'd make a legend manually

Each point will have a shape and 2 text boxes

The shape will be the same as each series

The 2 text boxes can be linked to cells on the worksheet

One text box can have normal text, the othe Italic

You will need to setup the cells on the worksheet to separate the normal and italic text

Then group all text boxes and shapes so it doesn't move

@elmyelmak

Select one of the series in your chart, then select a single point on that series

Format data point, as data label (series name)

Select the newly created data label, double click to edit. Select individual words and format as desired.
