dear all

if i have colours red, green and blue in five cells each from A1:A15

how do i count the respective colours.is it possible to convert the

colours into rgb code and then use the rgb codes in count function.

i am just speculating.thanks in advance.

dear xld and hui

many thanks for the suggessions.i wanted to use less of vba and formulae to count colours.

i experimented with excel and found that if we assign values 1,2, and 3 to red, green and blue

we can use conditional formating (excel 2003,2007,2010) to colour the cells bearing 1,2,3.

if you cant to count the colours then use countif function and this will count the cell colours.to mask the numbers use the same colour as the colour of the cell.in this way we can use numbers to count colours.this may be child like when compared to vba and udf codes.i am sure that vba and other udfformulae are exciting .i am determined to learn vba because of it enormous potential.
