can I delete cells based on format?

I am working with a big dB. I have multiple (1,435) columns of data and about 18,000 rows. I want to eliminate all of the cells with specific background colors. Can I do this? If so, can someone point me in the right direction.

I assume when you say delete you mean Clear the Contents

You can do the following

Find; Ctrl F

On the Format Button either choose a Format or Select a Format from a Cell

Find All

Select All the Found items in the bottom selection pane; Ctrl A

Close the Find Dialog

Delete

Thanks. This is helpful and useful, but I really want to eliminate the cells. All of the cells in question are in the same column and there are several similar columns in the dB. I am hoping for a one step process to eliminate the data and tighten up the spreadsheet at the same time.

Excel doesn't have an eliminate function

You can clear the contents, the above procedure will do that

Or you can delete things, deleting cannot happen unless the cells are adjacent and in the same column

Can you be more specific about what you want to do
