Sir, really sorry for my late replay actually my mind is block what i will do if the data is not recover then ?

Any way sir, thanks for your code and spend your valuable time for me

a small request what is the difference between MM & DD why the code is not work for this small mistake

thanking You

With Regards

Hi Patnaik
Sorry to hear about the corruption. On a side note, I wonder if that is perhaps why the file was not working correctly for you? I hope you have back-ups of your hard drive...there are some data experts who might be able to retrieve info, but that is beyond my knowledge. :(
The MM and DD represent month and day. In my location, people write dates as month/day/year, or in shorthand, mm/dd/yy
Other countries write dates as day/month/year, written as dd/mm/yy in shorthand. This swapping around can lead to some confusion both for people and for XL.

My personal preference? I write dates using format dd-mmm-yyyy e.g., 22-Oct-2013. That was there is no ambiguity as to what I mean, no matter what order you arrange it. :)

Hi, smgpatnaik!

I join Luke M sorrow regarding your drive corruption, and my two cents are:

a) Remove physically the HD from the computer

b) If possible mount it as slave in another machine

c) Try to boot with a Linux live distribution and check if and if available try to clone it (or if it mounts fine, first try to copy the data, then check if it's valid, and if so, then try to boot with that disk in the test PC: if it works, despite of driver errors related to HW changes, then repair or replace the motherboard of the original machine)

d) If not, remove the disk from the test PC, and consider bringing it to a specialized data recovery service. They're not cheap, so evaluate carefully the proposal received. They basically do this:
- they remove the now SATA (Serial ATA), ex IDE (in drive electronic), aka, green embedded board circuitry of the HD
- they replace it by another one from an identical HD that works fine: if this works, all your data is recovered, but they'll charge you a high fee for the job or sometimes a ratio per Mb or Gb downloaded (yes, it's half a robbery, but they do that for a living)
- if changing the controller doesn't work, they can replace the arms/heads system with others and check if the physical sectors are readable: maybe they are, but from beyond this point (including it) the costs rise exponentially (in my not so short experience, no company where I worked passed this level, we're talking of thousands of dollars.

Best luck.

Regards!

PS: This isn't the time for talking about backup policies, but whenever you want just resume this subject and we'll go on.
