Anyone know of a free book on VBA by an Excel MVP?

Howdy. Yesterday while following forum links at either this forum or one that a link took me too, I saw that someone (possibly Rick Rothstein) posted a link to someone else's free VBA book. I downloaded it for later consumption, but forgot to save it and forgot where the heck I got it from. And I also cleared my cache and search history by running CCLEANER. So there's no trace of it.

Pretty sure it was from an Excel MVP. Can't remember which one.

Anyone have an inkling about what book this might be.

Hi Jeffreyweir,

I think.. all free books by MVP are just for beginners.. or some outdated 2007 version.. (No.. outdated doens't mean outdated)..

check this link.. if you recall the MVP's name.. :)

Hi Debraj. Thanks for that. Forgot to mention that it was not for me but for training purposes and for referring forum users to. And forgot to mention that it wasn't Bill's book (I already have that one).

I'll scan the list and see if any name rings a bell. Problem is it may have been a former MVP...their name didn't look familiar.

Troble is, those books all look like they are under copywrite and so they are not strictly legit 'legal' downloads.

I need something that I can legally share. I'm not sure these qualify.

Yep, definately not legal, and definately infringing on copywrites. For instance, see this link:

Can a moderator please remove the above links (with the exception of the MrExcel one, which is absolutely legit)

Did you have a look at:

Hi Jeffrey,

This is not a book, but a MSDN guide to the Object model. It is very useful to get to grips with VBA.

Good day jeffreyweir

That mistake of mine woke up the old grey cells (and I mean old). I remembered that I had upload full non copyrighted material before, and I post the links here. If you open them you will see that they are as it says on the tin free to use and with links to the site for further information.

bobhc: Hmm...These all clearly state "No part of this publication may be reproduced or transmitted in any form without the express written consent of AdvisorCPE or ASA Research" and all have copyright symbols and dates.

So they're no good either, I'm afraid.

Can a moderator remove links to these.

The book I saw (and then stupidly deleted and lost the links to) specifically said something along the lines of "You can distribute this reference as widely as you want, so long as you don't charge for it. To the reader: if someone is charging you for this book, they are robbing you and they are robbing me"

That said, they are all freely downloadable from the ASA research website, so as long as I'm only providing people with links to where they are on the ASA website, it's all legit!

As I said in my post if you opened one up you would get the link to the site and would see they are all "legit" as posted on the board by myself some time a go
