I'd request Chandoo (/Hui and other readers) to add on here, I'm sure he has a few aces up his sleeve.
Particularly, when horizontal line is drawn, is there a way for the arrow with label L=14m to display automatically?
Hi Kilele,
I'd like to thank you for putting up the question to begin with.
Looking at the query, my first thought was using multiple charts, but that would be excruciating and hence ignored it.
Today it just stuck me, that excel already provides a grid which can be put to use to draw to...
If its a one time task, you could try the goal seek
Ive used the built for quadratic equations, works fine
You will have to run it more than once for both roots
(havent used it for 3rd or 4th order eq)
Hi,
The basic assumption that goes into the model is that all weights are equal
In case the first weight is of a predefined value the difference is split equally among remaining weights
Hope this helps to improve the index

Try this formula approach
http://rapidshare.com/files/397531243/Repeat_nos_lookup.xlsx
It does not use vlookup.
The second third fourth etc value are classified in a table
another approach would be to use a pivot table
Hi
To use a Vlookup formula there must be a unique key on the left (1st column); ive added one as an example.

A sum product formula may also be used
The new formulas are in red
In a small sheet, arrays would not slow it...
Formula suggestions, highlighted in yellow
http://rapidshare.com/files/395899037/Sample_Assumptions.xls
I've put up a version of a formula in case there are multiple nested if, is more easier to read (yellow highlight in COGS assumption table)
Hope this is what ur looking for
Commas in number system are to indicate the places
Most of the time a space will suffice
Even using ## ## ### as a custom number format solves the problem in a simple manner
This can be extended for crores also just increase it to ## ## ## ### and no commas to worry about
Thx oldchippy.
another thing to add, this way even a null cell will have an entry once f4 is pressed
I've put up an animated gif, to make for easier understanding
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3307/4588225481_e04c91c922_o.gif
give it a few seconds to load before it animates
I think...
There is something cool (read awesome for Chandoo.org readers)which I came up with and i'd like to share
Use of the F4 key can be a resource here. The F4 key is used to repeat the last task
Your query is by clicking on a cell the value should increase by 1
This can be achieved as follows...
Hi Myles
Thanks for your reply
A percentile may not give the correct answer in case the number of entries increase
to clarify my question
consider

which has 25 entries adding up to 150
a percentile...
how do i approach this ?
There are values in column A which are not sorted
I need to highlight the top values which will add up to 80% of sum of all values in column A
eg
15
25
18
5
7
8
12
10
adds up to 100
the output should highlight 25,18,15,12,10
A variation would be to...
