Excel 2003 - Data Validation Using Data in Table

Hi everyone,

I have a table containing contract data in the following columns:

A - Portfolio Name

B - Branch Name

C - Program Name

D - Sub Program Name

E - Project Name

F - Contract Name

There are currently 3000 rows in the table, and new rows with new contract details are added each month.

I would like to create drop down lists in the 'parameters' tab which allow users to select options based on the selection in the previous drop down.

That is, once a portfolio is selected in cell A2, the drop down list for branch in cell B2 only has the branches relevant to the selection in A2. This continues down to F2, where the available contracts are based on the project selected in E2.

(Basically, it functions like a filter button)

I am using Excel 2003.

I am trying to avoid creating named ranges for each unique list.

I would like to use data validation where the options are based on information in the contracts table.

Has anyone got a solution for this?

Many thanks,
DMcK
