VBA to copy a code and overwrite the existing code in multiple files

Hi there,

Happy to post another query here. This is also the place where I am actually improving my excel skills. Thanks to that.

Query:

I have some multiple macro embedded excel files saved in the share drive. As I am currently working on some project, hence I keep changing the macro code for all the users macro embedded excel files.

So, it is very difficult for me to open one by one all the file and then open the project explorer(with password) and paste the new code.

So, is there any possibility of coping my excel VBA code to all these users excel files? Please note that the users excel files will have data in their spreadsheets.

I can prepare path list(including the file names) for all the users excel files in my excel file.

Please suggest...

Kiran,

Might it be possible to just create an Add-in that stored on some local network, and then everyone could connect to the add-in? That would make it easier for any future updates. I know this isn't always an option depending on what the code does, but it miight be something to look into. Editing VB code via a macro can be quite tricky.

Thanks Luke. Ya, I knw this is very tricky one. But, thought of asking if any solution will get from here.

As usual, This forum rocks.

You might have better/easier luck forcing each workbook to export the old module and then import the new module. I tried a quick Google search for "vba code export import module" and found a few links that looked promising. I'd recommend starting here:

http://www.mrexcel.com/articles/copy-vba-module.php

the example there is for creating a new module in new workbooks, but there's plenty of examples out there already for code to loop through a directory of files and open those. Hope this helps a little.
