Using textbox in Excel

I've got a chart that updates with weekly data and I want to have a vertical line and text box as a "flag" or "marker" signifying that an event took place on a certain week. Of course, I can manually draw one and move it every week, but that's not smart... I'd like for the line and text box to move with the data point automatically. For example, I'd like a vertical red line for the Feb 1 data point and a then a text box attached to the data point that says "Snow Storm on East Coast." It will "stick" to the Feb 1 data point and I won't have to move it every week.

Thank you for the spreadsheet but how the you come up with the text "Snow Storm on East Coast". I want to be able to manually input the text into the spreadsheet

Just right-click on the cell and format it with the text as you want. The actual value of the cell will be some number. But the format will be the text you want to display.

Thank you. That works too but I'm looking for a way to directly enter the text into the spreadsheet cos I have a lot of data points.

For such charts, I'm afraid you'll have to use some alternatives like that. One another way is to equate the data-label value to a fixed cell. In that case, any value in that cell will be shown in the data-label. The other way is to use a Change event macro.
