what is use of dropbox....?

actually i have an excel sheet and i want that my users which are living in another city can access my file via internet is it possible through dropbox or via any other application.

but my excel file contains some userform.

Yes

You can have a Public Area or Shared Area which people in other cities can open a file from

Dropbox effectively loads itself as a directory accessible under your username in Windows systems

Good day mahveer

If you go to the dropbox web site you can create a Transfer folder, you can then invite your users to share this folder and it will work as any folder on a computer allowing you and them to upload and share files. Once your users have acknowledged your invite they will not need any code/password to open the folder. But only those you invite will be allowed access.

Create an Account

There are online guides that show you ow DropBox works

ok dear now i shared it with my second account

and i got a folder with excel file in my second account

but now i want to change some data in excel file from my second account then can i do it online or i have to download it

one more question dear i have got the same folder but it is on website

i think it should be available on my dropbox account on pc. is it possible?

Click on the Sharing icon on the left and then the Learn More link

When you have a file to upload copy it into the public folder then while in that folder right click on the file on from the drop list choose Dropbox and from the sub list choose Copy Public Link, then when you come to the forum ash the question and then right click and paste....done. If you have created a Transfer folder copy your file to and then email those on the list that a new file is there.

Pleased you have sorted it out, I use the Transfer Folder a lot for sending workbooks to others, never had a problem and because only you can invite others to have access it is secure.

one more thing bobhc when ever i will shared my files to other users then is it possible that they can delete my original file?

Good day mahaveer

I Never put an original in any shared file, all-ways a copy, that way if any one does screw it up you will be able to replace the file with another copy

Hi, mahaveer!

When you install Dropbox in your PC it builds a folder structure as follows:

<Path>DropBoxApps

<Path>DropBoxDownloads

<Path>DropBoxPhotos

<Path>DropBoxPublic

<Path>DropBoxStart.pdf

A simple and initial use would be as follows:

a) copy the file you want to share from its original location to Public DropBox folder

b) right button on the copied file, DropBox, Get Public Link

c) paste the link and send it to the destinatary

As b(ut)ob(ut)hc said, always copy the file and don't expose your original keeping it only or moving to Dropbox.

Giving a look to the Start.pdf file wouldn't cause any harm :)

Regards!
