Use a scroll bar to dynamically add from a horizontal list of #'s

Hello,

I've got a horizontal row of cost data that corresponds to months 1-18. I'd like the user to be able to see the sum of the data using a scroll bar that allows them to adjust the # of months from 1-18. e.g. if they slide the bar to 12 they see the sum of the row for months 1-12. How can I do this?

If you haven't performed yet the search herein, try going to the topmost right zone of this page (Custom Search), type the keywords used in Tags field when creating the topic or other proper words and press Search button. You'd retrieve many links from this website, like the following one(s) -if any posted below-, maybe you find useful information and even the solution. If not please advise so as people who read it could get back to you as soon as possible.


In this case, do this:

a) assume your data is in range A1:R1

b) leave A2 free

c) in A3 type: =SUMA(INDIRECTO("A1:"&DIRECCION(1;A2;4;1))) -----> in english: =SUM(INDIRECT("A1:"&ADDRESS(1,A2,4,1)))

d) go to the Programmer tab (if you had it disbled, enable it first from Options), Controls group, Insert icon, and insert an ActiveX scroll bar control (select a rectangle, ...)

e) right button on the added control and set the following properties to the related values:

LargeChange: 3

LinkedCell: A2

Max: 18

Min: 1
