Unlocking an XLA add-in module

I have an XLA public domain module that was created a number of years ago. Support has gone silent. The add-in only works on a 32 bit version of excel and does not work on 64 bit systems. I'd like to modify the code but the add-in is locked. Is there a way to unlock the code and is there a quick way to convert the add-in to work of 64 bit excel?

2. No, as it depends on what is used, some 32 bits version could never work under 64 bits version,​
the reason why MicroSoft do not incitate to install the 64 bits version …​
