Unable to Toggle Check Boxes in Excel 2010

Hi everyone,

I have run into an issue that has me and my coworkers scratching our heads, so I'm hoping someone here can provide some assistance. The problem has to do with a form that we have been using since August 2017 that utilizes check boxes to hide and unhide certain tabs. I am unable to check or uncheck any of these boxes from my computer, but they work on my coworkers' computers. This has never been a problem until this week.

Additional details:
  • When I hover over a check box, my cursor does not change from the standard white cross cursor to the pointer tool, as if the object were not there
  • All content is enabled
  • The that fields I am trying to edit are not protected
Things I have tried:
  • Using Design Mode, seems to have no effect
  • Reset my mouse controls, to no effect
  • Creating new check boxes. I can insert and manipulate new check boxes as form controls, but it will not let me insert check boxes as ActiveX controls
  • Saving as .xlsx. This disables the macros, so it isn't an option
  • Saving as .xlsb. Again, seems to have no effect

If anyone has an idea of what might be going on, I would be extremely grateful for any advice.
 
Wow, these symptoms are exactly what I'm seeing. I have to wait on our IT folks to resolve this, but I really appreciate the tip! I'll let you know if it works after my ticket goes through.
