I have the same problem. bobhc, that doesn't work because it only shows the first page of whatever excel doc you are linking to. In my instance, I am using an excel workbook with over 20 sheets, each with several graphs, tables, and cell ranges, that all need to be dynamically updated in powerpoint's many slides that is filled with the data within the excel workbook. I only want to edit the excel workbook and just have all the data in the powerpoint presentation automatically update.

For your guidance - when I click on a microsoft excel object in powerpoint, it opens up a brand new phantom workbook titled "worksheet in 'name of .pptx" instead of moving back to the source excel file. Also, when you look at the properties of the phantom worksheet, it has no location, no size, nothing. It's like instead of powerpoint just referencing the source file, it embeds an entire workbook into powerpoint somewhere...

help please!

Not sure if I fully understand but if you choose the section of Excel data you want ( chart, column data, row data, tables) and follow the Object road as per my upload then as you update Excel your presentation will upload the new data.
Are you selecting "create from file" in step two, the steps must be followed as is.
If you follow the steps (yellow brick road) for all your data sections, into different slides, then you should get what you want.

PS. sorry about the yellow brick road, popped into my head and could not resist...:p
