Tricky Excel Problem

Hi guys, I think I've got quite a tricky one here!

I've got a list of information which is like this

Mr A Conversation 1

Mr A Conversation 2

Mr A Conversation 3

Mr B Conversation 1

Mr B Conversation 2

Mr C Conversation 3

Mr C Conversation 4

Mr C Conversation 1

Mr C Conversation 2

What I want to be able to do is have all the Conversations had with Mr A to turn up in the same cell (As they would do if I did it manually with an "&") - any ideas? and the same for Mr B etc... there are varying numbers of conversations with each person.

Help very gratefully received to save me a lot of work!

Have a look at the Post by Jive, towards the bottom of this page

That should do what you want

Hi guys, I think I've got quite a tricky one here!

I am sure all the problems are tricky, but it would do a fat lot of good if you title your post much more meaningfully. That way google, you, me and everyone can find this if needed at a later point :)

coming to solution, you can use the concat UDF coupled with some simple IF formulas in helper columns. For eg. create 3 new colums to the right and extract out conversations with A in first column, with B in second etc.

Now apply CONCAT() on column 1, 2 and 3....

All the best
