Top 3 Ranking

Hello All, I'm Naveen. I'll looking for some help to complete a worksheet. I've a list of students with their marks & percentage. I'm having difficulty getting the result with top 3 rankers.

Eligibility for a rank: Minimum marks should be 300 & percentage is highest

If there is a clash with percentage, i would want to see the student with highest % & marks and 2nd rank to be given to second highest mark scorer.

Any help on this is much appreciated.

If a person qualifies by getting a score of 301 and a percentage of 99%, is that higher than a person who scores 600 and has a percentage of 10%?

or does the Marks not matter once they exceed 300 pts?

Can you please clarify ?

Thank you for getting back so quickly.

Marks do matter for the top rank. Suppose A gets 300 marks with 100% and B scores 400 marks with 100%. B should be given top rank & A get 2nd rank. This is the result I"m looking at. Apologies if this was not clear in my initial question.

One question I have you.

The list provided by you contains a total 52 records out of which 17 records have below 300 score. Now as per your eligibility criteria these 17 records should not get a rank. So are you going to include these records in giving the rank or they need to be excluded from ranking?

What I mean to say,is whether these 17 records will not get the rank but their values will be considered in deciding the rank of those who scored above 300 OR they will not get the rank neither their values are considered?

OK. But my question was say a record with score 600 and 95% when we are doing the rank of this 95% should we do in a set of those percentages which have a score of 300 or above or we should include all the percentages.

Let say:

555 78%
567 95%
430 88%
250 99%
201 78%

So here if you are ranking 1st one should 78% be ranked among all the five records or just 3 records which have more than 300 score?

Becuase if we take 5 records than the ranking will be 4,2,3 for the records which are above 300 and if we take only 3 record than the rank will be 3,1,2.

So which way you want it?
