Timeline Chart with half overlapping bars

Hi Excel Gurus,


I need to plot the bar chart with time line on X-axis where bar chart values need to be taken from B,C,D,E coloum. This seems to be a simple stacked chart but when i tried to make it is did not.

To make my problem statement clear will need lot of write up so i just tried to make picture of what is needed. you can check it at http://sdrv.ms/M2XmQU

This looks like the same techniques used to make a Gannt Chart

Make a Gannt Chart then add two more series for the second set of values

Change the second two series to the secondary axis

Fiddle around with Bar Width and spacing

Reverse the secondary vertical axis


Because after writing the above it made no sense I uploaded a sample file which is taken from Chandoo Gannt Chart in 60 seconds post

Used your data

Added a second set of data as described above

reformatted

I'm not sure what your points A, B, C & D are as they aren't marked on the chart or with the data

I need to change x axis position from top to bottom but missing something even after seeing
