Time Calculations in Excel

Hi everyone,

question on time calculations. how do I figure out how many hours a person worked with an hour lunch in between? IE = start at 9 AM end at 5PM lunch = 1 hour

The fun part is if the person works on a shift. Especially from PM to AM. Example, 10 PM to 6 AM with hour break.

Thoughts?

FYI- I am familiar with Excel and the serial numbers in time values. Just in case.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi, cubs610!

A straight way is this:
A1, starting time in format with date & time
B1, ending time (idem)
C1: =(B1-A1)*24-1

Regards!

=((M21-M20)*24)-1

Assuming your end time is in m21 and your start time is in m20. also, it is important to make sure your start/end times are seen as actual numbers and not text! lol (if it entered the time as text, you'll likely see the #Value error

EDIT: ahh blast it!! SirJB, your speed is incredible!
