Can anyone provide files / links that can be used to test the excel proficiency of a candidate. the position is for a data analyst in demand planning.
 
Dear bluetaurean,

I would suggest this forum for to improve or test your excel skills. In this forum, so many people around the globe post their real time problems which they are facing in their life and so many excel experts are here to resolve their problems through their excel experience. So you can watch different different techniques which you can't imagine or expect.

This is my real experience with this site/forum. I learned so many techniques and formulas which i never imagine. Excel Ninjas (SirJB7, Narayank991, Faseeh, Bobhc, Hui, Somendra etc....) and other people (Shrivallabha etc) who share their wealth of knowledge with us every time. Thanks to everyone who are always there to resolve others problems without any expectations from them. They always love to resolve the problems, for that reason they are "Excel Ninjas"

If you want to really improve your skills, then please try to solve the others problems. So finally i will say
"Challenges will teach more than a book and make you awesome".

Not sure such a link exists...but just for the heck of it this is how i used to test ppl attending my classes

1) build up a multiplication table 'abs & rel reference
2) based on the multiplication table above in Sheet1, given two numbers in Sheet2!A1 and Sheet2!A2 get A1*A2 from the table 'index, match, hlookup,vlookup
2b) given a number, return a formula to get that number from the aforementioned table (i.e. 24 --> 3*8) 'same as 2
3) given a windows filename and full path return the filename 'string manipulation
4) given a string, return the mirror-string 'string handling and arrayformula
5) based on a table i made up, i used to create two/three question to test how the user handle sumifs,countif and sumproduct
