This data *appears* as if it is coming from a ERP/Database/External source and is "formatted" for Excel - however, it is intended to be printed in Excel, not really analyzed. Your issue is to connect your source data to Excel in a different manner so that you can use its power to help you with analysis.

There are several ways of doing this, some are better than others, and it depends on how you want to approach the challenge.
  • You can link the external data directly to PowerPivot (but you'll need at least Excel 2010, preferably 2013)
  • You can use PowerQuery to access a CSV file from the External data.
  • You can import a CSV file from the external data into an Excel Worksheet.
  • etc.
Do you have much control over the external data, and how to link to it?
