Stop Links from Breaking When Moving Report to Network - Million Dollar Question

I have just completed the bulk of my lengthy consolidated report assignement. Each report has links back to the source information. I have zipped everything together, and moved it to another work station. I first open all the source reports then opened the consolidated reports.... Of course the consolidated reports needed me to edit links and change source documents. I closed each source report and changed the source location and updated values. It appeared to work on the data that had values to create the quantities, etc...

The links it did not restablish throughout the consolidated report was the links I had in different areas linking over to different areas on the source report.

How do I ensure these links do not break?

My next move will be to a network scenerio... Please advise. Is there a macro that can be created that I can change the directory location... I can see in the cells on the consolidated report that won't link me back to the source it shows the path(example: Old location C:UsersDesktop10-20-11 Updates Source ReportsSource Report Dept.xlsx

New location: Z:main networkreportsregion reportingSource ReportsReport Departments.xlsx

... But, of course the path has changed and it wont' take the updated... Eeeekkkkkk...

Yes Sir! that is exactly what I did...To redirect where the consolidated document could find the source document it has links connected too it...

At first all of the links showed as unknown that I selected change source went to source document at it's new location and then updated values. This is nightmare...

Yeah...I'm afraid there's no real good way that I've found to keep links preserved when files move around. If you're careful, sometimes you can use a Find & replace to change links...but I agree, it's a nightmare.

I did a search and seen some application that can be purchased that can fix the links... Have you heard of these app's and any good things about these applications? I am so new to this realm if I would have been messsing around with this stuff years ago I may have a clue. But unfortunalty I am too new to knowing or hearing of anything useful.
