Stacked Bar Chart - Date Functions

Hi guys,


First post and limited excel experience (go easy on me)


Ok, i have created a stacked bar chart to indicate when people are on leave, courses etc.


names on the x and dates on the y.


however i need the chart to be live i.e, at the minute i have anchored the chart to now minus 100 days and ideally would see the chart move along a day each day, but all the data is gathering at the chart beginning instead of disappearing.

Firstly welcome to the Chandoo.org forums


When charting dates it is important to remember that they are just numbers


You need to setuop your chart so that the First series Is the start date which will be a big number like =Today() which is 40,722 (28 June 2011)

The duration of the holiday will be a number of days, lets say 10.

and the chart will add the 10 to the start date 40,722 to give the second series and show 40,732 as the top of Series 2.


So select a single series as the start date and add a Column/Bar Chart

Then add a second series as the duration in days (Not Dates)
