Excel needs to load everything in memory,
the bigger workbook, the less memory !

As Excel is just a calculator, for big data better is to use
a database management software - like Access - which
does not need to load all in memory …

And it yet depends of what you call « it freezes » !
As it is very normal during VBA execution, just let it finishing procedure …
