sorting the date

hi chandoo


i have to sort the dates with format "2002-Jan-20" in a column ,


how can i sort.


ex:


2002-APR-14

2002-Aug-15

2006-May-12

2005-Jul-17
 
Click on the Sort Button either Ascending or Descending


If they are not sorting correctly they are probably text values not dates


Convert to dates by using Text to Column

Goto Data Tab, select Text to Column

Select Fixed Width

Click so there is a vertical line just after the last character

Select the Date Format YMD

Apply


Now the Text will be dates and it will sort in order
