Searching and returning cells based on multiple criteria

Hi All

I'm pretty new to excel and would really appreciate your input to solve a problem:

I am trying to formulate a vlookup query which uses multiple criteria and can't seem to get it right.

I have a data sheet which contains a cell called product type.

I want to create a formula on a separate worksheet which will search the datasheet for particular (multiple) product types and then return information from a specified column on the data sheet.

For example, I may want to search for certain types of toys from a list - cars, dolls, and trains only. I may then want it to return data from the 'colour' column of each toy that matches the description - cars, dolls, or trains.

Any suggestions that you can offer are much appreciated!

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org forums.

Please take note of the 3 Green Sticky posts at: http://chandoo.org/forums/

They give you lots of info on how best to use this site

I'd suggest you start by looking up some keywords in the Google Custom Search box (Top right of all Chandoo.org screens)

Try keywords like VLookup, Lookup Multi Criteria, Lookup Multi Conditions etc
