Reducing the size of excel file

I have many tabs in the excel but is there a way to reduce the size of the file? its a whooping 45 mb. do you think it is large because I sometimes go down to the very last unused blank excel cell ? how do i delete the blank data below the last used row? do you think that will help me save space?
