Recreating a chart from a PDF Graph with no source data table

Dear all

I have been tearing my hair out. Before starting this tread I did a scan and couldnt find anything similar, so your help is much appreciated!

I came across a chart in a PDF report with numerous data points (but no source data was published). I would like to use this chart in my slide (with proper referencing of course) but I couldn't just copy and paste the PDF Chart Image because:
1) The colour and format don't match my report colour theme; and
2) I will need to update the chart later with newer source data (which I will have just not the historical)

I am wondering if anyone here could help?

I tried to copy the PDF image into my Excel workbook and overlay it with my chart (such that the axis and scale matches) on top of it and by dragging my data point to the spot of the data point in the PDF image but I encountered the following problem:
1) the PDF image doesn't show when I drag my data point (this is despite I made my Chart Area to be None i.e. Transparent)

I attach an example file below (not the chart I am trying to recreate but close enough) along with my attempt to recreate it. Please help!

Thanks Faseeh, it was a good attempt but wasn't close enough. I guess an area chart was always going to be difficult. Other graphs I am trying to replicate are like the line charts contained in Sheet2 found in the latest example file I sent.

Thanks for feedback. Please point out what is different in the original and my attempt besides the tilted lines. I will try to improve it.
