Hi, I accidentally shift deleted a xlsm file (I need to get rid of this habit)....anyway I wanted to recover it.

By using some software I have recovered it, but now it not opening...

I've attached the link to the file....if anybody can help....I have spent almost 48 hours trying to open it :(....

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0kxdNrvyzqzYTdUZ3Ywci1EYUE/edit?usp=sharing

The error that is displayed is "Excel cannot open the file '~$IPL 2013.xlsm' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file."

Hi Indian

I have just had a quick look, but it seems to me you have recovered an empty file. The file size is 0 bytes.

I could be wrong, but that is my take on things.

Sorry I can not be of further help

Cheers

Shaun

You can recover your accidentally shift deleted a xlsm file from your computer using Kernel for windows data recovery software, which is an effective data recovery software which can recover any type of file and data from windows file system.

Hi, Indian!

Hope to not arrive too late. Try doing this:

a) first, don't use that computer but don't turn it off neither

b) disable Windows or any other software updates if enabled (if not needed internet or network access, disconnect cables or adapters)

c) don't create, copy, move or download any file

d) from another equipment download a recovery software, better if portable and not installable so as to be run from a pendrive (e.g., Recuva Portable, I use the installed version but I have it already installed previous to any accident)

e) if succeeded, well, fine; if not, I'm afraid you have the same problem as before trying this

f) one thing, the link to the uploaded file "~$IPL 2013_003.xlsm" isn't the actual Excel file, it's just a dummy, almost empty except for user and machine data, a few bytes, that Excel uses to indicate the opening of a file, that's to say, it doesn't hold the data, just the user who opened it and no more, so discard any chance with that file.

Regards!

Hi vasim,

I see you have accidentally shift-deleted your file but you have recovered the file.
No worries, Repairing the workbook will fix the issue:
1. Open Excel APP.
2. Click on File > Open.
3. Select your File (single click) and click on the drop-down arrow next to the "Open" button.
4. Click on Open and Repair...

If this process doesn't work for you, try using this.
I hope this helps you.

Best Regards.
