printing image in the workbook

I had posted this sometimes back

and one of the community member did reply but some

how it did not work at my end or may be my mistake

which I could not notice. But after that the printing

format and pattern got changed. I am still

looking for the solution.


I have a chart prepared in excel-2007 for my

product approval purpose.

I have my product code mentioned in

the fixed range of cells i.e from

C8 to C28. I enter a max of 10

code numbers within this range of C8 to C28.

Not necessary all the chart will have 10

code numbers. Some approval chart might have

only 1 code number also.

If the first code is in C8 then the second

might be in C10. Third may be in C11. Fourth

may be in C17 etc..

I have a folder in my C drive named Photo

where I have the pictures of all the products.

All the pictures are in JPEG format. The

Code number and the picture name exactly matches.


When I enter just the code number may be say for eg

11302 in C8 then it should display a small picture

of approx size 0.75 inches in D4. Second code number

pic in E4. First five pictures from D4 to H4

and second five pictures from D6 to H6. Purposely

kept a gap in between i.e D5 to H5.


Slightly complicated, but do not know if

it is possible.

I think it is miss-understood.

even today I have the file ready but the same

problem. How is the file attached. Previously I tried twice in this

site for the attach file button or option but could not

locate and then I got busy with my other work and the issue

is pending.

kindly let me know under what Heading is the attach file option.

All you have done is upload a workbook, please read again this which was posted by SirJB7 and you did not reply to......." Consider uploading a compressed file (using WinRar, WinZip, 7-Zip, or any other) which contains your sample file and your image folder."....where is the image file....


Are the few images you have pasted into your worksheet all the images you need,..what image goes with which code? If you gave just a little bit more thought to your needs members would be able to see what you want.

The pictures that have been shown is just for

and example purpose. The actual pictures are difficult

to show because it is against the company rules and I

need to take the permission. However I have shown two

of our product images.

The actual Photo folder has at present approx 1700+

images and all have a unique Code number. No numbers

are repeated.

As per the excel sheet attached: list of corresponding

images


ARK12 - D4

ARK13 - E4

SH112G - F4

CRT7 - G4

LM8834 - H4

DDJ1 - D6


In the Code column I will be having a max of any 10 Code

numbers only linking to the list of 1700+ images in the Photo

folder. However the number of images will increase every

time.


Please let me know if this is ok

Try recording a macro inserting a picture object, then look at the code. Then look up worksheet onchange event in the help.


That is the best way to learn...record, (alt-Ff11 to view the code)


You could use a hyperlink.

I did notice that you are using merged cells in your worksheet, this is a no no


Avoid merging cells


Merged cells can help you arrange values in a meaningful way, but they come with problems lots and lots of problems. For instance.

Excel won't apply column formats to merged cells unless you select all the columns that comprise the merge.


In addition, not all cell formats stick once you un-merge a cell. You can't sort a column with merged cells. You can't even select a single-column range if there's merged cells in the column.


Don't hesitate to use merged cells if you really need them, but they will limit what you can do to the cells and even the columns involved. Center Across Selection is a superior alternative to merging, you still have the look of merged cells but unlike merged cells you will be able to work with the cells such as applying formulas and formats.


Merged cells can and do screw up workbooks to the extent that you get error messages when you try to open the workbook.


To apply this format in the Ribbon versions, you'll need to launch the Alignment group dialog (Ctrl=1) and click the Alignment tab. Center Across Selection is in the Horizontal drop-down.

From this new topic that you opened unnecessarily I've noticed many things:

a) You didn't read thoroughly and carefully the green sticky topics, that are written to help you and not to make you lose your time, as you do with other's time.

b) You uploaded a workbook with no images, even if that posted by myself at the original topic had many images to aid you build the solution.

c) You then uploaded a compressed file with sample Windows image files: I'm glad to know that you can put them all together within a single file, but not so glad as you supposed we (people who might be able to help you) were going to build another sample workbook, including the extracted images from the zip file. Again, do whatever you decide with your time but please take care of others time.

d) You not only lost 3 weeks since the last post on the original topic but 1 week in this new not needed topic, with 8 previous comments, just to arrive at a worse place than before.


Despite I'd be able to rebuild all again for you, I think you're not collaborating with the contributors that read and many of them write at your started topics, so speaking by myself I'll be waiting for a proper file to be uploaded where it was requested, otherwise I'm not be able to further help you.

Hello SirJB7 and bobhc,


I would firstly like to appologize yourself and others ( imla , Smallman ) who have faced problems because of me. Since I am a fresher in excel where I do not even know some of the simple formulas, there understanding of the code language and using it for my application or making changes is very difficult for me. I should have posted the issue only when I will have fair knowledge in excel and ability to understand the code.

I request everybody to not to spend their precious time for my issue and wish to stop

or discontinue the subject. Kindly let me know how can I delete or stop both the subjects
