Plotting against a plotted chart

Hi All,
I'd like to know is it possible to plot against a chart which already has been created using reference data.
For example, if I make a chart using an engine's mileage data which has been calculated at the shop and today I wish to plot the cars performance versus the datum chart (already created)- is that possible and how?

It would help if you could upload a sample file , removing any confidential data / using random data.

Basically , any chart can be plotted if there is data ; can you upload a workbook with relevant data ?

Hi Narayan,
Basically, I have the chart plotted and this chart is the reference. For the future, I want to plot points against this chart. We have the curve and I want to show where the incoming data would lie on the curve or where on the plot area.
This chart is the reference test results of the engine.

I am sorry but I don't understand what your requirement is.

If you want that there will be more data which you will want to be plotted on the chart that you have already created , that is absolutely not a problem.

An Excel chart can have multiple series , which means you can have target plotted vs. actuals or the results of multiple experiments plotted on the same chart so that you can compare their data ; the multiple series can plot different kinds of data such as distances , mileages , speeds , efficiency ,...

The file you have uploaded contains data for the chart that you have already created ; if you can upload a workbook which has the additional data that you wish to plot , things will be clearer.

Thanx, Hui. That helps. Is that possible to add a scatter instead of a line to the second series. Sorry for being dumb

The chart on the left has the new data series represented by a line with markers , where for the line the No Line option has been selected.

The chart on the right has the new data series as an X-Y chart , with the X-axis selected to Date.
