Pie chart data labels

Does anyone know how to format or resize the category name data labels on a pie chart so that the text is not splitting words. I can't 'grab' the corner of the boxes to resize them to get the text to fit. I know I can replace the data labels with text boxes but there's a lot of them. Any ideas?

Thank you!

Sadly, the formatting of series labels is limited, and we can't control the size, despite the teasing appearance of "handles". If you have a lot of labels, that probably means you shouldn't be using a pie chart as pie chart become fairly useless after 2 or 3 slices. Might I recommend a bar chart?

I thought that might be the case. I have a number of pie charts on a number of pages as opposed to a lot of data in one pie chart. I'll see how far I can get changing the text size.

Thank you.

You'll be happy to know that in Excel 2013 you have full text control of the Label Text Formats, including Word Wrap etc

Interestingly, is that you can setup the Pie Chart Label format in 2013, save as a *.xlsx format and load into 2010 and the format is maintained.

(Do you want to download the Excel 2013 Trial?, It runs besides other versions
