I think it is an Excel 2010 solution that is required, but the following should reinforce the extent to which Excel 365 does not depend upon traditional spreadsheet techniques

      array,    TOROW(grid,1),
      distinct, UNIQUE(array,1),
      SORT(distinct,,,1)
  )

That is:
1. convert the 2D grid to a row array;
2. remove duplicates;
3. sort ascending left to right
